
Over 50 alumni and friends gathered at Gilhooley's Grande Saloon for the first Alumni Author Book Signing event on Thursday, October 15th. John Wills '81, was available to sign copies of his latest novel, Gripped by Fear, the second book in his Christian-themed Chicago Warriors thriller series. John shared stories about his career as a Chicago Police Officer and FBI agent and what inspired him to begin writing novels over five years ago.
John is a former co-editor of Suspense Thriller Zine and has published more than 60 articles in both print media and online, including sites such as Officer.com and Police and Security News. We encourage all our alumni and friends to join us for our pre-game "tailgate" this Saturday, October 24th at noon. Let's join forces in support of our 8-0 Cougars as they face Iowa Wesleyan College (Iowa). Kickoff is scheduled for 1 p.m. at Bruce R. Deaton Memorial Field.
In honor of "senior day" we will give each senior football player a gift from the Alumni Association. We will set up our Alumni Association tent and welcome alumni and friends to Bruce R. Deaton Field starting at noon. Prior to kick-off, we will provide hot chocolate and cookies as well as information about upcoming events.
We will also have our long sleeved red SXU t-shirts available for sale - with proceeds going to support student scholarships. Please come and join your fellow alumni and friends and support our Cougars for this very exciting - last regular home game of the season!

Paul Green, Ph.D., Director of the Institute for Politics at Roosevelt University, will open Saint Xavier University's Squeaky Weal Lecture Series on Wednesday, November 4th, with his responses to the title questions of his talk: "Revenue, Revenue Wherefore Art Thou? Has Government Become Too Expensive?"
